Reconnect a channel

On this page

You need: the login of the account the channel belongs to, and the Admin or Manage Channels right.

Reconnecting renews Robopost's access to an account you already connected. It keeps the same channel, so its scheduled posts, history and settings stay where they are.

Why did my channel disconnect?

Networks end an app's access from time to time. The usual reasons:

  • you changed the account's password;
  • you removed Robopost's access in the network's settings;
  • your role on the Page or channel changed, or the account was restricted;
  • the network's access simply expired.

How do I know a channel needs reconnecting?

  • In Channels → Channels, the channel's card shows a red Reconnect Required badge and "This channel is experiencing connection issues. Please reconnect it to ensure continued posting capabilities."
  • A red banner at the top of many screens says "Some of your channels are experiencing connection issues." Click it to go to your channels.
  • A failed post says "Your channel was disconnected and we couldn't publish your post. Please reconnect your channel." or "Your channel permissions are not sufficient."

Reconnect a channel

  1. Go to Channels → Channels and click Settings on the channel's card.
  2. Under Refresh Channel Connection, click Refresh Channel Connection.
  3. Sign in with the same account the channel belongs to, and allow every permission.
    • For Instagram, the connect window opens again: choose the same way you connected the first time.
    • For Bluesky, WordPress self-hosted and Telegram, a form opens: enter a new App Password, application password or invite link.
  4. You're back on the channel's settings with "Refreshed channel connection" ("Successfully connected" after a form). The Reconnect Required badge is gone.

Tip

Connecting the same account again from Channels → Connect channel also repairs the existing channel instead of creating a duplicate.

Is anything lost when I reconnect?

No. It's the same channel: scheduled posts, drafts, published history, its category, post signature, UTM parameters, watermark and time zone all stay.

Note

For Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts connected through Facebook, LinkedIn Pages, Pinterest boards, YouTube channels, Google Business Profile locations, Telegram channels and WordPress.com sites, reconnecting sets Max Daily Posts back to the network's default. If you had lowered it, set it again in the channel settings.

If posts failed while the channel was disconnected, find them in Posts → Published posts and see Why did my post fail?

Important

Don't disconnect and re-add the channel to fix it. Disconnecting deletes the channel's posts in Robopost.

If reconnecting doesn't work

"You are connected to the wrong social account."

The network signed you in as a different account from the channel's. Log out of the network in your browser (or use a private window), sign in with the channel's account, and click Refresh Channel Connection again.

"Failed to refresh the channel. Your browser may not be connected to the correct social account."

The account you signed in with doesn't manage that Page, board, channel or location any more. Sign in with the right account, or ask for your access back, then try again.

Facebook Groups

A Facebook Group channel doesn't publish through Facebook, so it never needs reconnecting and has no Refresh Channel Connection button. See Connect Facebook.

Still disconnected
