Connect Facebook
On this page
You need: a Facebook account with access to the Page: full or partial control of a new Page, or the Admin or Editor role on a classic Page. Turn on two-factor authentication on that Facebook account.
Robopost publishes to Facebook Pages. It can't publish to personal profiles, which Facebook doesn't allow apps to do. For Groups, Robopost reminds you by WhatsApp and SMS when it's time to post: see Connect a Facebook Group.
Connect a Facebook Page
- Go to Channels → Connect channel and click Facebook Page.
- Facebook opens. Log in if asked, and continue as your Facebook account.
- Facebook asks which Pages (and businesses) Robopost can use. Select every Page you want to connect. Pages you leave out here won't appear in Robopost.
- Review the permissions and leave them all switched on, then confirm until Facebook sends you back.
- Robopost opens Connect Facebook page with a list of your Pages. Turn on the switch for each Page you want. Pages that are already connected are switched on already.
- Click Connect.
"Successfully connected" appears, and each Page is listed in Channels → Channels.
What Robopost asks Facebook for
So it can publish and show you results, Robopost asks to:
- see the list of Pages you manage, and the business that owns them;
- create and manage posts on those Pages;
- read the Pages' posts, comments and reactions, and reply to comments (for the Social Inbox);
- read Page insights (for Analytics).
If you turn a permission off, some posts or features will fail later.
Connect a Facebook Group
Facebook doesn't let apps publish to groups. Instead, Robopost sends you a WhatsApp message and a text message when a post for your group is due, with a link to the post so you can share it yourself.
- Go to Channels → Connect channel and scroll to Via WhatsApp & SMS notifications.
- Click Facebook Group. The Connect Facebook group window opens.
- In Facebook group name, type the group's name. It's only a label for you in Robopost.
- Enter the phone number that should get the reminders, and click Send confirmation code.
- Type the code you received by SMS or WhatsApp into Confirm code and click confirm. You'll see "Phone number confirmed".
- Click Connect.
Schedule posts to the group like any other channel. At the scheduled time you get "please post to your FB Group …" with a link. Open it, copy the text and media, and post them in the group.
I'm not receiving SMS reminders for my Facebook Group
Check WhatsApp: Robopost sends every reminder there too. In some countries, local carriers restrict or block SMS from services like Robopost.
To use a different phone number, disconnect the group channel and connect it again with the new number.
Troubleshooting
My Facebook Page doesn't appear in the list
The list shows "We could not find any data.", or your Page is missing. Check each of these:
- Your role on the Page. You need full or partial control (new Pages) or Admin or Editor (classic Pages). See Facebook's help on Page access.
- Two-factor authentication is on for your Facebook account. See Facebook's help on two-factor authentication.
- Robopost is allowed to use that Page. In Facebook, open Settings → Business integrations, open Robopost, and make sure the Page is selected. Or connect again and select the Page in step 3.
If you don't have enough access, ask the Page owner to give it to you, or invite them to your team (or send them a Request channel connection) so they can connect the Page themselves: see Let someone else connect their account.
"Connect error. There was an issue while trying to connect your account."
The connection was cancelled or Facebook refused it. Start again from Connect channel. If you have several Facebook accounts, log out of Facebook first, or use a private window, so you sign in with the right one.
Posts to my Page started failing
The connection probably expired, often after a password change or a change of Page roles. The channel shows Reconnect Required. See Reconnect a channel.
