Connect X (formerly Twitter)
On this page
You need: an X account you can sign in to.
Connect an X account
- Go to Channels → Connect channel and click X (formerly Twitter).
- X opens. Sign in if asked.
- X shows what Robopost is asking for: read your posts and profile, write posts, and stay connected. Click Authorize app.
You're sent back with "Successfully connected", and the account is listed in Channels → Channels.
Tip
Robopost checks at connection whether the account has X Premium. With Premium, the composer lets you write up to 25,000 characters for X; otherwise it counts down from 280. If you subscribe to Premium later, open the channel's Settings and click Refresh Channel Connection so Robopost sees it.
What does posting to X cost?
Every X post uses X credits: 1 credit for a post without a link, 14 credits for a post with a link. How many credits your plan includes, how to buy more and how to post without links: X credits.
Connect more than one X account
X keeps you signed in, so it may connect the same account again.
- Log out of X in your browser, or open a private (incognito) window.
- Click X (formerly Twitter) again and sign in with the next account.
If you see This channel already exists, click Log out from X, log out there, and try again.
Disconnect an X account
- Go to Channels → Channels and find the account.
- Click the ⋮ menu on its card, then Disconnect.
- Click Yes to confirm.
This also removes the account's posts from Robopost. To fix a broken connection instead, reconnect it: see Reconnect a channel.
Troubleshooting
"Connect error. There was an issue while trying to connect your account."
You cancelled on X, or X refused the request. Try again and click Authorize app.
"You are connected to the wrong social account."
You were refreshing a channel but X signed you in as another account. Log out of X, sign in with the account the channel belongs to, and click Refresh Channel Connection again.
My X posts are rejected as duplicates
X's automation rules don't allow posting the same or nearly the same content repeatedly, on one account or across several. Vary the text of each post. See also Posting limits.
