# Post Shopify products and blog articles

Robopost has two Shopify automation types:

| Automation Type | Posts |
| --- | --- |
| **Shopify** | Each new product in your store, or in one collection |
| **Shopify (News)** | Each new article on your store's **News** blog |

**You need:** your store's address and at least one connected channel. You don't need a Shopify app, an API key or
an access token: Robopost reads your store's public feeds. The store must be open to visitors, so a storefront
password blocks it.

## Set up a Shopify product automation

1. Click **Posts → Automations** ([open it](https://dash.robopost.app/automations)), then **New Automation**.
2. Enter an **Automation name** and choose **Shopify** in **Automation Type**.
3. In **URL**, paste your store's address, for example `https://your-store.myshopify.com` or your own domain.
Robopost reads the feed of all your products at `/collections/all.atom`.
4. Switch on **Let AI generate the post text** (recommended), or write a **Post Template** such as
   `Just dropped: {title} {link}`.
5. Optional: switch on **Let AI generate the post image** or **Let AI generate the post video (Beta)**. If you leave
both off, Robopost uses the product's main image.
6. Optional: switch on **Enable Smart Filtering**, for example "Only consider t-shirts."
7. Choose **Post To** and **For Channels**, then click **Create Automation**.

### Post one collection only

Paste the collection's feed address in **URL** instead of the store address: the collection's page address followed
by `.atom`, for example `https://your-store.com/collections/summer-sale.atom`. Robopost uses a feed address ending in
`.atom`, `.rss`, `.xml`, `/feed` or `/rss` as it is.

## Set up a Shopify blog automation

Follow the same steps with **Shopify (News)** as the **Automation Type** and your store's address in **URL**.
Robopost reads your **News** blog at `/blogs/news.atom`.

If your blog has another name, use an **RSS Feed** automation with that blog's feed address, for example
`https://your-store.com/blogs/journal.atom`. See [Post from an RSS feed](https://dash.robopost.app/docs/automations/rss-feeds.md).

## What do the posts look like?

For products, `{title}` is the product name, `{description}` its description and `{link}` the product page. For blog
articles, they're the article's title, summary and link. With AI text, Robopost writes a caption in your chosen
**Voice Tone**, with hashtags and emojis if switched on, and adds the link.

The image is the product's or article's main image unless you generate one. Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok need an
image or a video, so an item without one is skipped for them. **Resize Image** makes every image the same shape.

For hashtags, custom prompts, links on X and link shortening, see [Post from an RSS feed](https://dash.robopost.app/docs/automations/rss-feeds.md).

## Troubleshoot a Shopify automation

**"Please check your URL" or an RSS Error.** Open `https://your-store.com/collections/all.atom` (or
`/blogs/news.atom`) in a private browser window. If you see a password page, remove the storefront password; if you
see "page not found", check the address and the collection or blog name.

**Old products were posted.** When you create the automation, Robopost starts with the newest items already in the
feed. Use **Save as a Draft** first to choose which ones go out. See
[What happens right after I create it?](https://dash.robopost.app/docs/automations/automations-overview.md#what-happens-right-after-i-create-it)

**Some products were skipped.** Check **Smart Filtering**, and whether those products have an image if you post to
Instagram, Pinterest or TikTok.
